This Week's Mindful Activity~ Waiting
I often find myself waiting..In line at a store, to pick up my kids from sports, for the Internet connection at work. The challenge this week is to turn that time spent waiting into a short mindfulness activity. The Book How To Train A Wild Elephant offers the following mindfulness ideas to try:
1. Mindfulness of Breathe
2. Being Mindful of the sounds around you
3. Loving Kindness Meditation
4. Gratitude~ instead of being annoyed that you have to wait remind yourself you have an unexpected moment to strengthen your brain and then select any practice you want.
This weeks activity is a good reminder for me to stop turning toward distractions like my phone while waiting and to start turning toward the present moment!
